In Toulon, the Région rewards 2,225 baccalaureate graduates for their excellence
The Région Sud honored 2,225 baccalaureate graduates from the académie de Nice with a "Très Bien" distinction, awarding them a €300 grant.
Academic excellence was in the spotlight on July 10 at the Lycée Rouvière in Toulon. A ceremony rewarded the 2,225 baccalaureate graduates from the académie de Nice who achieved the "Très Bien" distinction in the 2026 session.
The event brought together several major figures, including François de Canson, Vice-President of the Région, representing President Renaud Muselier. He was accompanied by Natacha Chicot, Rectrice of the académie de Nice, Jean-Michel Permingeat, Deputy for educational policies in Toulon, and Nicolas Rougier, Principal of the school.
Support for merit
At the heart of this recognition is the "Bourse au mérite", a €300 financial aid awarded by the Région to each recipient of the "Très Bien" distinction.
This initiative, created in 2016, has already benefited nearly 52,000 young people with a total budget of over €20 million.

He highlighted that all of the Région's assistance measures represent support for families' purchasing power, estimated at €2,300 per young person over the year.
The "Éducation d’avenir" plan
This scholarship is part of a broader strategy, the "Éducation d’avenir" Plan, with a budget of €1.2 billion through 2028.
This ambitious plan aims to transform the region's schools by pursuing three strategic goals: ensuring that 100% of high schools are eco-responsible, secure against all physical and technological threats, and fully renovated to meet the challenges of the coming decades.
Other concrete support measures
The Bourse au mérite is just one of many levers activated to support young people throughout their studies. Among the flagship measures are free textbooks, a harmonized and affordable price for school meals (€4.30 per meal), and the funding of outfits and equipment for vocational tracks.
Mobility and health support complete this range of measures. The Pass ZOU ! Études allows nearly 139,000 young people to travel unlimitedly on the regional network for €90 per year. The Pass Santé Jeunes provides easier access to prevention and healthcare for those under 26, with nearly 14,000 beneficiaries during the 2025-2026 school year.
