Bormes-les-Mimosas: with modernised means, the nautical brigade ensures safety
The municipal police's nautical brigade has acquired a new semi-rigid boat to strengthen safety at sea.
Borméens and holidaymakers can rest assured that their safety remains one of the major concerns and an absolute priority during this period of intense tourist numbers.
The Municipality has acquired a new tool for the nautical brigade with the purchase of a latest-generation semi-rigid boat.
“Faster, more powerful and perfectly equipped for both patrolling and assistance, this boat modernises and strengthens the action of the municipal police's nautical brigade duo, Sylvain and his teammate Christophe,” specified François Arizzi, during the launching of the vessel, in the presence of his deputy for safety, Bertrand Nargaud.
Maritime safety
Based at the La Favière station from April to October, the nautical brigade ensures safety in the bay of Bormes-les-Mimosas and watches over the maritime facade.
Far from being limited to surveillance, its missions are particularly comprehensive. They include safety and navigation, which translates into checks on behaviour at sea (speed, safety equipment, boat outfitting), and verifying compliance with the marking plan and mooring zones by boaters.
It is also in charge of beach logistics. This means it handles the management and technical coordination of the two rescue stations set up in the commune during the summer in partnership with the firefighters of the SDIS.
The brigade is also competent for nautical activities and for matters falling under the maritime public domain. This concerns the surveillance of beach crafts (pedalos, kitesurfs, dinghies...) and the control of the public domain (itinerant vending, etc.).
Finally, as the town is a signatory of the Pelagos charter, the brigade works with the Parc national de Port-Cros for the monitoring of cetaceans and the management of strandings.
Missions all year round
These varied missions begin in winter with administrative and technical preparation (police orders, management of mooring lines, budgets, etc.), and become 100% operational on the ground during the summer.
With this new state-of-the-art equipment and a team ready to intervene at any moment, all conditions are met to ensure a serene summer.
An indispensable presence and modernised means so that the sea remains a shared space of freedom and safety.
