The Prime Minister's Roadmap
The Prime Minister delivered his general policy speech on October 1st. Despite the taunts of the far-left, he presented his roadmap without wavering.
“The real sword of Damocles is not the one hovering over the government, it is our colossal financial debt. Which, if we are not careful, will plunge our country into the abyss”!
Faced with the challenge of the public debt, he quoted General de Gaulle. This debt, which has exceeded 3,300 billion, or 112% of GDP, is a catastrophic situation.
Recovery Priorities
The objective is to return to a budget deficit of 5% of GDP in 2025, and then to the European constraints of 3% in 2029. To achieve this, two-thirds of the effort will come from reducing public spending.
These choices will be made taking into account the most vulnerable and in collaboration with local authorities for greater efficiency. Another priority is to tax companies making significant profits, including the largest fortunes, to participate in the collective recovery.
Security and Political Divisions
Michel Barnier is also making daily security one of his top priorities, with a tightening of the criminal justice response and an increased police presence. Marine Le Pen is calling for a new immigration law in early 2025.
Faced with the deputies, Michel Barnier called on them to overcome their divisions to act in the supreme interest of the country. In the face of urgency, it is necessary to seek common paths and compromises. This is the only reasonable way to save France.
