A bitter observation
After the First World War, Paul Valéry wrote: 'We civilisations now know that we are mortal. We have heard of entire worlds that have vanished, of empires sunk straight to the bottom with all their men, into the inexplorable depths of the centuries with their gods and their laws. Not all is lost, but everything has felt itself perish. A shudder has run through the marrow of Europe.'
France cannot tolerate international law being trampled upon! It is not certain that one defends a civilisation by sowing barbarism oneself!
Indeed, we can only regret the lack of serious political debates. Cut off from the reality of their fellow citizens, politicians no longer have any ideas.
The LFI example and its consequences
An example is the LFI group (far-left) in the Assemblée nationale, going against the positions of its partners (non-condamnation of Hamas Islamist terrorism, support for the Venezuelan Marxist dictator, a communitarian approach targeting French Muslims). This allows it to win urban and communitarian constituencies.
The criticisms from the PS, the PCF, or the Ecologists (who welcome LFI dissidents) do not lead to a break with LFI for reasons of base electoral interest. Furthermore, they avoid talking about the economic and social crisis, the government's failure regarding employment, security, immigration, housing, and education. The real issues are obscured by instilling fear.
In the tumult of the hemicycle, Nathalie Oziol became annoyed. The RN MP Julien Odoul attacked the Insoumis, accusing them of being 'hand in hand with Hamas', supported by his colleagues Laurent Jacobelli and Pierre Lottiaux: 'They are your friends, the terrorists!' Thomas Portes, an LFI MP, lost his temper, shouting threats at Odoul with the infamous 'Shut your mouth! We'll take care of you! We're going to settle this outside, you'll see!' Unacceptable remarks coming from a representative of the people.
Striking figures
To replace the heavyweights of finance who have weighed down our public spending, which has become uncontrollable (57% of GDP in 2023), representing a gap of 260 billion with our neighbours and a debt burden of 80 billion in 2027, we might see the creation of a Ministry of Drug Trafficking, an economic sector that is doing well with a turnover of 6 billion and 250,000 jobs! After all, we must replace the automotive industry, which has lost 150,000 jobs and will lose another 200,000 by 2035! Thank you, ecologists!
At the ministère de l'Agriculture, civil servants are doing well, as Sarah Knafo reported: 'In 1980, there were 1,200,000 farmers and 16,000 civil servants. In 2024, only 400,000 farmers remain but 36,000 civil servants at the ministère de l'Agriculture'! Finally, Éric Ciotti's Union des droites pour la République (UDR) group wants to reduce the budget allocated to migrant aid associations by €500 million. In 2016, the subsidy amounted to €306 million compared to €981 million in 2022. Associations that provide legal advice to organise appeals against the State that subsidises them! It is completely upside down!
