The ZFE, a rampant social exclusion

The Zone à Forte Exclusion (ZFE) is already a reality! Since January 1st, nearly half of French people have been banned from accessing their own city. An absurd decision, dictated by an ecological ideology, supported by the left (PS, LFI and Renaissance) and, surprisingly, by the right (LR).

The mousetrap has already closed on 12 agglomerations.

This measure, imposed by Europe, is firmly denounced by the RN. Cities with over 150,000 inhabitants must now restrict traffic, creating Zones à faibles emissions (ZFE) under the pretext of "saving the planet".

A false response to climate challenges

The idea that ZFEs address greenhouse gases is an urban legend, spread by the left and Renaissance. France represents less than 1% of global emissions. In practice, Crit'Air 3 vehicles (Euro 4 standard, registered between 2006 and 2010) are now banned.

In Toulon, the implementation of the ZFE was postponed from 2024 to 2025, then by another year, to 2026. Is this a political calculation in a pre-election year or simple common sense? The motorist will judge.

The segregation of cities

ZFEs are at the heart of a heated controversy, accused of being Zones de Forte Exclusion sociale. The RN proposes their abolition, while Reconquête has launched a national petition. Yet, the left, Renaissance, LR and the State have created a new segregation, relegating millions of French people outside the metropolises.

The people no longer have the right to travel, to access hospitals, to consult a specialist or to find a job. Artisans and SMEs are also affected. A Parisian plumber, whose van dates from 2009, must choose between a €17,000 debt for a Crit'Air 2 vehicle or losing his city center customers.

This situation recalls a sketch by Fernand Raynaud. With ZFEs, 42 cities will become strongholds off-limits to ordinary French people. Paris, Lyon, Grenoble, Montpellier already ban Crit'Air 3 vehicles. If your diesel dates from before 2011 or your petrol from before 2006, you are banned.

The ecologists have allowed access to emergency vehicles, but for the others, fines are looming. Should we let large cities, already concentrated with inequalities, become citadels reserved for the wealthiest?
