Support for affected municipalities
Faced with the exceptional floods of May 19 and 20, 2025, in the Var, the Région Sud reaffirmed its commitment. A funding package of 1.4 million euros has been mobilized via the Fonds régional d'adaptation au changement climatique.
This scheme, created as part of the Plan Climat, aims to strengthen the resilience of the territories. It will make it possible to repair non-insurable damage suffered by local authorities, businesses, and farmers in the 14 municipalities recognized as being in a state of natural disaster.
An expanded support plan
The Région is also planning a support plan for impacted businesses. Immediate responses are planned, such as TPE loans and support for Région Sud Garantie starting in September.
Specific support is planned for the affected farmers. Tourist accommodation will benefit from positive communication to reassure visitors during the summer season. Specific aid is also planned for autumn 2025 in the event of a drop in tourist activity.

Strengthening of summer security
The Région is deploying emergency call boxes in the Parcs naturels and festivals for a peaceful summer. This initiative is part of the "Région Sud, la région sûre - Acte 2" plan.
Following the positive results of the first phase around 12 high schools, the executive has decided to extend the rollout. 12 new call boxes will be made available to volunteer municipalities, and a mobile call box will be trialed for festivals.
These emergency call boxes strengthen security in high-stakes locations. They reassure users, deter risky behavior, and integrate with municipal video protection systems.
