The FRS « Formation » continues to grow in strength

The presentation of this pennant helps to reinforce, through its symbolism, the Marine anchorage of the sailors and agents assigned to the DPM services based in Toulon, their military character, and the pride of belonging to their unit. On this pennant features the monumental gate of fort Lamalgue, evoking the link with the former Marine units established on this site since 1947. It features the coat of arms of the Ville de Toulon and two feathers evoking the administration, archiving, and human resources specialty work that are the core business of the DPM.

An anchor is also represented, along with its chain, which also evokes the historical past of the fort.

OPERATIONAL RESERVE The reorganization of the operational reserve of the Marine, necessitated by the policy of doubling its size by 2030, involves the creation of reservist units within the organic and territorial components. These units are commanded by experienced reservists and are called « flottilles de réserve maritimes » (FRM) or « flottilles de réserve spécialisées » (FRS). These new units are intended to support active units by providing additional personnel for well-defined missions, but also to constitute a mobilizable force reservoir.

Eleven flottilles de réserve maritime and three flottilles de réserve spécialisées were created in 2023, including the FRS « Formation », located at Fort Lamalgue. Placed under the authority of the sous-direction « génération des compétences » of the Direction du Personnel de la Marine, its mission is to develop the employment of reservists from the civilian world as well as former sailors for training missions within the Marine schools. These reservists contribute to the education of sailors in technical areas (electricity, naval mechanics, nuclear, digital, cyber, IT...)

but also in academic subjects (mathematics, French, English, or sports). The FRS Formation contributes to recruitment, provides administration, and handles the monitoring and employment guidance of these reservists.

Since its creation at the end of 2023, the FRS « Formation » has already recruited more than 100 reservists and continues to grow in strength.
