During the two years of command of CV Laurent Saunois, the sailors of Crew A of the Languedoc participated in two missions in the Eastern Mediterranean and a deployment in the Red Sea. Oriented toward anti-submarine warfare in close proximity to France's competitors, the deployments in the Eastern Mediterranean demonstrated the expertise of the French Navy in this operational area of combat. THREAT ZONE Thus, the Languedoc was distinguished by the US Navy for this skill through the presentation of the "Hook'em Award".
From December 2023 to March 2024, Crew A of the Languedoc was deployed in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to protect commercial traffic from the Houthi threat. During this deployment, the Languedoc escorted a dozen civilian vessels through the threat zone and shot down several Houthi drones, marking the first operational use of the ASTER 15 missile.
CV Loïc Boyer joined the Navy in 2001 and chose the sub-surface warfare specialty. He sailed on high-seas patrol vessels, nuclear-powered attack submarines, and anti-submarine frigates. He commanded the training ship Lynx in Brest in 2008 and the high-seas patrol vessel (PHM) Commandant Birot in Toulon in 2016.
A graduate of the 25th class of the École de Guerre in 2018, he served for four years on the Navy staff before taking the position of executive officer of the FREMM Alsace in 2022.
During his career, he participated in various operations in the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean. Recently, he took part in the European operation ASPIDES to protect maritime traffic in the Red Sea.
Knight of the Légion d'Honneur and of the Ordre National du Mérite, CV Boyer is married and has a 10-year-old son.
