Its history, its ancestral traditions, its local customs, its specialties, its rich and varied terroir among the oldest in France, that was all it took, before the arrival of autumn, for Le Lavandou to offer events with a Provençal atmosphere. When local history invites itself during weekends punctuated by numerous activities.

ROMÉRAGE

With the last Beach sport sessions and the craft markets, the September events closed the summer chapter.

Thus, from the second Sunday, between the sacred and the profane, it was the votive festival of the Romérage. A highly anticipated event that celebrates, with panache, the tradition when Le Lavandou was only a fishing hamlet attached to Bormes-les-Mimosas. At that time, the villagers organized, at Pentecost, a procession to honor Saint-Clair, also the patron saint of seamstresses and who, it is said, had the power to cure blindness. Revived in 1995, the procession now starts from the Saint-Louis church in the town center to the Saint-Clair chapel. This year, this ceremonial was not blessed by the gods, with rain as a guest. But never mind! The mass did take place in costumes and the sketches of the Romérage were performed on the forecourt of the Saint-Louis church to dub, according to custom, the prior of the year. And, the joy of the participants was not lacking in their hearts. A lunch brought together nearly 500 guests to taste, in the COSEC hall, a delicious aïoli, prepared by the town services.

LE LAVANDOU COULEUR PROVENCE

“Lavandou Cœur Provence” is a new commercial event that brought life to the weekend of September 14 and 15. The crowds of the big days gathered, therefore, around lavender fields. Numerous stands offered basketry workshops, lavender distillation, ancient tools, and exhibitions of vintage postcards. An event held in the presence of the brotherhood of aïoli and the inevitable tasting of regional products. A “Lavandou couleur Provence” to be perpetuated.

MERCHANTS' CLEARANCE SALE

During this same weekend, a giant outdoor display brought life to the heart of the village with the major end-of-season clearance sale organized by the merchants' association. Great deals were made under the sun to the greatest satisfaction of buyers and sellers!

EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS

On the weekend of September 21 and 22, the public was invited to the market square for the traditional Salon de l'automobile. And, as part of the Heritage Days, the guided tours in the Saint-Clair district enjoyed a nice success for the exhibition “Henri Manguin - Au soleil du midi”. Finally, in an exceptional manner, the inhabitants of Le Lavandou were able to discover the Villa Dollander, designed by the architect Henri Prouvé. Set on a slab, this holiday home is built around a central beam made of folded sheet steel.

NATURE WEEK

Closing the summer period in style, heading towards the low season, sports enthusiasts of all levels and lovers of beautiful walks discovered the beauty of Le Lavandou thanks to the departmental event “Le Var : semaine nature”!
