Bormes-les-Mimosas, an obvious choice

It is therefore a crowning achievement for these three villages! Meeting on September 20 and 21, the Commission Qualité et Labellisation of the national network ruled in favor of labeling these three candidate villages. The body in charge of classification and declassification decisions within the national network also renewed the label for 11 member villages, bringing the total number of "Plus Beaux Villages de France" to 180. Perched between hills and the Méditerranée not far from the fort de Brégançon, Bormes-les-Mimosas is an essential stopover for tourists! Moreover, it was not additional notoriety that the municipality was seeking with this candidacy for the title of one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, but recognition of what seemed to be obvious! Although many visit the village every year, the municipality does not aim for an additional influx of tourists but rather wishes to extend the seasons. The Commission therefore appreciated the work carried out in terms of restoring facades, laying out public spaces, or greening, as well as efforts to preserve "Bormes - Village" from peripheral urbanization. Proof of the label's high standards, this recognition, sometimes obtained after one or even several unsuccessful attempts, must not be considered an end in itself but as a source of emulation for towns wishing to improve the living environment of their inhabitants, the promotion of their heritage, and their rural environment. It is in this spirit that the Commission des Plus Beaux Villages de France accompanies its decisions with reservations or recommendations in order to encourage Municipalities to continue their efforts on the rehabilitation of buildings, the aesthetics of the surroundings and village entrances, or the management of commercial activities on public property. This can be just as much the case for candidate villages as for member villages, which are assessed every 6 to 9 years.
