Let's lift the taboo on suicide affecting the agricultural world!

To denounce this tragic reality, the association Allo Agri joined the 22nd World Suicide Prevention Day on Tuesday, September 10. President of the association Allo Agri and a farmer in the Var, Max Bauer, explains the process that led to the creation of this original initiative: "Farmers have been experiencing, for more than a decade, a situation of distress due to the chronic crisis in the sector. In just a few years, they have seen climatic hazards intensify, constraints of all kinds accumulate, and the denigration of their profession become commonplace."
In short, they have helplessly witnessed the deterioration of their living and working conditions.
At the end of 2020, with the support of the Coordination Rurale, we launched Allo Agri to improve the identification and support of farmers experiencing psychological or professional suffering. It is a toll-free number set up by farmers and for all farmers."
BRIDGE Convinced that it is as close to the ground as possible that the most appropriate responses can be provided, the association acts as a bridge between struggling farmers and already existing support structures: "The objective is to work towards a coherent territorial network while seeking to offer the most suitable support and mutual aid measures, always with respect for confidentiality and anonymity." Furthermore, strengthening the prevention of distress must necessarily involve the mobilization and responsibility of all actors in contact with the agricultural world. According to Max Bauer: "The association Allo Agri is working hard to draw the attention of public authorities to this subject, which is still taboo in the countryside."
