Already at the beginning of the year, they were demonstrating for a better future. Also, the location of the mobilization inside the grounds of the hospital of Hyères was symbolic but without tractors or damage, with a limit of 30 people. This demonstration was also declared to the prefecture du Var.
STOP THE BLEEDING! The goal of the CR was to convey strong messages: "By controlling what goes onto their plate, the consum'actor takes care of their health" and "Agriculture, emergency, stop the bleeding"!
Admittedly, the hospital environment has its own difficulties. But it is not the only one. "Who will treat us in case of junk food tomorrow! It increases the risk of diseases. These include obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, cardiovascular problems, kidney failure, hypertension, cholesterol, etc.," explains Max Bauer.
On this day of anger, other slogans could be read: "It is time to give agriculture back to the farmers", "For our products, prices not contempt" or "Sacrifices to the farmers, profits to the others". For Max Bauer: "It is not just about denouncing the severe distress of farmers, it must also be acknowledged! For years, alarmist diagnoses have followed one another, becoming increasingly serious over time.
But, never taken seriously! French agriculture is seriously ill and its vital prognosis is engaged"!
FUNERAL PROCESSION Between 2010 and 2020, France lost 101,000 agricultural holdings. Every day, 38 farms are wiped off the map. "How many farmers will be left in ten years.
Probably fewer than 250,000. It is a silent slaughter, a gigantic redundancy plan. France is, little by little, emptying itself of its farmers," worries the president of the Coordination Rurale du Var.
He asks, "Why? First of all, there was CETA, the trade agreement between the European Union and Canada. Then, MERCOSUR (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela), the most important free trade agreement ever signed, which aims to establish a free trade area between the EU and South America".
Often presented as an agreement selling cars for cows, it is strongly criticized by European farmers, who highlight unfair competition with lower environmental, social, or health standards. Even environmental associations point to a negative impact on forests and a reinforcement of agro-industry.
