The City receives its first 'Ville active et sportive' label

January 2025 - #228 For its first participation, the City was distinguished by its 1st laurel of the 'Ville active et sportive' label for the diversity of its 16 sports facilities open to the public (stadium, tennis and padel courts, golf course, city-stadium, etc.) This distinction was presented by Gil Avérous, Minister of Sports, Youth, and Community Life, during a reception in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), to Roland Berger, deputy mayor in charge of sports, and to Nathalie Maréchal, director of the city's youth and sports department.

SPORTS POLICY REWARDED A recognition of the sports policy conducted by the City, which currently has 1,862 members in various sports clubs, not to mention the training provided to nearly 500 trainees from outside municipalities each year, and the attractiveness of the 10 sports events organized throughout the year.

This distinction also takes into account orientations to promote access to sport for all. Indeed, the city-stadium, ping-pong tables, the fitness area of Grand Jardin, the home-ball, football, and volleyball courts on the beaches, and the pétanque courts, these facilities are accessible free of charge all year round. This is also the case for sailing sessions, swimming lessons, and learning to ride a bicycle, which benefit all school children in the municipality.

“Knowing how to ride a bike and knowing how to swim have been among our priorities for three years. Ensuring safety while swimming and on the road while promoting sports activity is an asset for all young Lavandourains, which we develop further each year with the municipality's teachers,” specifies deputy Roland Berger.

And, Gil Bernardi, the mayor adds: “After the 'Le Lavandou, terre de Jeux 2024' label, which highlighted our actions in favor of Olympic and Paralympic sports, this award highlights the daily work carried out by my deputy for Sports Roland Berger, elected officials Cédric Roux and Carole Mamain, as well as that of the Sports department teams. This label is above all a distinction for all the presidents and sports supervisors who do a remarkable job in clubs and associations, especially with our youth.”
