The firefighters have received a new ambulance

SAINTE-BARBE It was with a particular emotion that François de Canson celebrated Sainte-Barbe, the patron saint of firefighters. A moment, rich in meaning and tradition, which brought together the head of Corps, officers, non-commissioned officers, corporals, and firefighters of the CIS, and made it possible to salute the exceptional commitment of those who watch over us, day and night.

Once again this year, you have been faced with immense challenges. We know how high the risk of fire remains in our beautiful southern region, but thanks to your vigilance, your professionalism, and your responsiveness, you have managed to preserve our landscapes, our homes, and, above all, our lives.”

As mayor, he added: “I am proud to represent a municipality where the bond with our firefighters is so strong. So strong, that today, we are happy to receive a new VSAB and I thank General Controller Éric Grohin, departmental director of the SDIS du Var who worked to ensure we were equipped with this new vehicle.

Our support for you is also felt through the action of the Région Sud. The latter acts with conviction to consolidate your missions and strengthen our capacity to face natural risks. Thanks to ambitious policies and significant investments, the Région has been acting by your side for many years to prevent risks and protect populations.”

Thus, the deployment of a major fire plan “Guerre du feu”, included in the Plan Climat, is structured around 3 main principles: Prevent, Fight, and Rebuild. With a budget of €5 million, this financial aid aims to support the Services Départementaux d'Incendie et de Secours (SDIS) of the Région Sud.

MODERN AND EFFICIENT SYSTEM As vice-president of the Région in charge of major risks, François de Canson highlighted the Pélicandrome, set up at the Hyères naval air base and inaugurated last July 18: “Highly anticipated, this tool can now refill two Dash water bomber planes with fire retardant at the same time and in just 6 minutes! In case of fire risks in the Var, Bouches-du-Rhône, or Alpes-Maritimes, it allows them to be nearby without having to return to the Sécurité civile base in Nîmes-Garons. The goal was to establish, at a regional level, a modern and efficient filling system taking into account the evolution of the fleet of the Sécurité civile towards large carriers like the Dash.

The Région, after financing 70% of the cost of the studies, provided financial support to the tune of €2.5 million (out of the 4.6).”

Thus also, the strengthening of the Garde Régionale Forestière, a flagship action of the “Guerre du feu” plan with an increase in the territories covered and the number of young people in post (to date 221 guards). An operation funded up to 80% by the Région Sud.
