François Arizzi: "We want to enable harmonious development"

During his speech, the mayor gave an overview of the municipality's projects and ambitions. Thus, 2025 will start with the reorganization and resizing of the parkings of la Favière and the boulevard du port, a major project that will continue into 2026, revealed François Arizzi: "These parking lots face several problems. First of all, the pines. They are beautiful, but their roots rise to the surface and continuously cause traffic and parking issues. Second, so much wasted space in these parking lots! They have labyrinthine traffic flows and multiple entrances and exits. It is truly time to redesign them. We will also fully rehabilitate the climb of the voie romaine between the pin and the bazaar, as well as the upper part of the chemin des aires."

RESPONSIBLE GROWTH

The mayor added: "Less glamorous but just as essential, at the cemetery, we will create 60 columbarium spaces which will make it possible to offer lasting burial solutions to grieving families. Among other projects, the rond-point du Niel which also aims to serve the sports complex, the multipurpose hall, the elementary school, and the future economic zone." Regarding the work on the roundabout, the elected official explained: "It should have already been completed, but additional environmental studies caused delays in awarding the contracts. Moreover, we cannot block this sector during the high season, so the work will take place between October and March." In the municipal land development approach, the elected officials demonstrate a short-, medium-, and long-term vision. In this regard, the first magistrate explained: "Short, because there is work and action to be taken immediately to respond to daily unpredictabilities. Long-term, because facilities like the esplanade and the parking Saint-François, the place du pin, or l’Estelan are designed to last for many decades and face tomorrow's challenges. Medium-term, this is particularly the case for the PLU. The town's PLU dates back to 2011 and has undergone revision to establish a new document in 2025 following a public inquiry (from January 15 to 25). Our vision is one of responsible growth, combining development with commitment. Revising a PLU is certainly one of the most difficult issues for a mayor and their teams to manage."

GREEN CORRIDOR

He continued: "First of all, in 2021 we unanimously voted for a Projet d’Aménagement et de Développement Durables which expresses the municipality's urban planning policy for the next 15 years. It lays the foundations of the project, which aims to meet two major objectives: preserving the environmental and landscape assets of the entire territory of the municipality, and refocusing the potential of the urban envelope, by adopting a sustainable and ecological approach to urban planning." Concretely, the main changes are a reduction in space consumption, thus preserving it for future generations. A green corridor along future routes to ensure a network logic and soft mobility. Green spaces and gardens will be reinforced to limit urbanization in residential areas and the arrival of apartment buildings in suburban zones. "So even though I know that, in the context of a PLU, it is rare to satisfy everyone, the approved document is balanced. We want to enable harmonious development while maintaining a human-sized town and preserving the existing quality of life throughout the municipality, where flora and fauna thrive happily, even wolves feel at home here," insisted the first magistrate (...). "In short, 2025 will be a year of challenges, of all hopes for ourselves and our beautiful town. But 2025 will, above all, be what we want to build all together. United and gathered around a single ambition: to continue making Bormes-les-Mimosas a civic, human, dynamic, and attractive town while preserving its art de vivre," hoped François Arizzi.
