Gil Bernardi: "We have decided to stop all construction in the plaine du Batailler"
Red carpet for the mayor of Le Lavandou's New Year wishes in front of more than 600 residents.
During his speech, highlighting what is not visible in the public space but is felt at the heart of household life, Gil Bernardi, the mayor, listed the courageous decisions taken by elected officials to defend the purchasing power of households. LOWER TAXES AND WATER PRICES Indeed, at a time when everything is increasing, the Commune has chosen to go ostensibly against the current: "Not only have we decided to maintain all municipal rates and intensify our support for young people, but we are the one and only commune in the Var - and one of 41 French cities - to succeed in lowering local taxes by 4% this year and by 6% since 2020. The one and only Commune of the department to offer a €1 meal at the school canteen for children, meaning an organic meal cooked on site to boot, and to keep on course!"
Finally, we are the one and only city to have lowered the price of water by 55 cents of a € per cubic meter, and all this without reducing the quality and scope of the public service.
And also, without altering the pace of our developments, which will continue in 2025 with the green corridor of the avenue Pierre de Coubertin, the future library, and the youth premises on the seafront. Without forgetting our investments to face climate change, the great challenge of our time, with the fight against fire risk and coastal erosion."
The mayor also recalled this commitment by the Ville, recorded on December 2: "We have decided to stop all construction in the plaine du Batailler and to acquire the lands that are still free to create a multimodal hub and implement soft mobility for peaceful exchanges. This is probably called a vision! At least, time will tell!"
HIGHLIGHTS This year, breaking the traditional codes of the New Year wishes ceremony for the population, Gil Bernardi, the mayor, presented them in three stages in the manner of a prize list inspired by the Festival de Cannes or the César ceremony. In the introduction, in the spirit of the Académie des Arts Cinématographiques, which became, on the sand of the city of dolphins, an Académie du Conseil municipal, the mayor then followed up in the form of an award distribution. A particularly successful sequence, orchestrated by Georges and Angelina, two professional actors.
Thus, the public was able to relive the highlights and major municipal achievements: Opening of the parc du Grand Jardin, renovation of the salle d'honneur and inner courtyards of the Hôtel de Ville, implementation of the Zone de Mouillage et d'Équipements Légers (ZMEL). Without forgetting the numerous festive events, the various labels obtained by the Ville for projects supported by municipal services. In this recording, the famous television host expressed his happiness at now being one of its residents.
