The country of Arles in the spotlight at the Corso du Mimosa
The Var festivities perpetuate a long tradition of conviviality unique to the Provençal and Mediterranean populations.
They are the original manifestation of a popular expression which, through rites and customs, asserts the identity of each village. This is how Cavalaire is organizing, from Friday 21 February to Sunday 23 February, the Corso du Mimosa. A weekend combining a Fête des Lumières on Saturday evening, a grand parade of 12 floats decorated with mimosa on Sunday afternoon, DJ nights under a marquee, a large Corsican market, tastings of culinary specialties in the food court, and illuminated and colorful street troupes! A varied program, highlighting the king of the hills, the mimosa, in a rhythmic and festive atmosphere.
THE WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS
The Corso des Lumières, Saturday evening
A magical parade of lights, starting at 6:30 p.m., in the streets of the city center, which are adorned with a magnificent glow! Street troupes put on a show and accompany the superbly illuminated floats. Thus, 4 floats, created by associations, parade through the streets (Énergie Sport danse: “Cavalaire by night”, la Boule du Lys d’Or: “EL Nimeño II”, the yacht club with “The Lobster”, and the ACAPIC with “The Princesses”). The DJ night “fever of the 80s, 90s and 2000s” hosted by Aimé Garnier closes the night parade under the marquee of the food court on place Benjamin Gaillard. Saturday 22 February from 6:30 p.m. in the streets of the city center and on place Benjamin Gaillard (free admission). The Esplanade Sainte-Estelle is transformed into a sand arena where the horses of the “Caval’Show” troupe perform with elegance and grace. Benoît, passionate, has masterfully led his pedigree horses for many years and, with his team, offers a poetic show; Soumille, an artist combining an 8-horse Hungarian post, High School exercises, and vaulting. To accompany him, Vincent Liberator and his team will take the stage to present their latest creation. An equestrian show filled with emotion, technical skill, and connection.
The Corso du Mimosa, Sunday afternoon
From 2:30 p.m., the city puts the pays d'Arles in the spotlight with, for the first time, a major Roussataïo, a parade of more than 30 horses through the streets of the city center. Note the presence of Amélie Laugier, Reine d'Arles and the pays d'Arles, accompanied by her maids of honor, Faustine Bret, Salomé Espelly and Nina Graillon. Then, 12 floats, made by associations (Les A.V.F with “Toucan Bar”, Énergie Sport danse with “The Guitar”, les Pétanquaires with “The Pétanque Players”, la Boule du Lys d’Or with “EL Nimeño II”, the Basket Club with “exciting Mario & Luigi”, les Donneurs de Sang Bénévoles with “Blood for Blood”, the Yacht Club with “The Pirates”, Planète Break Dance with “Dragon Ball Z”, and the ACAPIC with “The Enchanted Forest”).
A choice of several typical Corsican specialties is offered (brocciu fritters, cheeses, figatelli, beer, wine, and charcuterie, etc.) to enjoy on-site or to take away. From Friday 21 to Sunday 23 February from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the boulodrome on place Benjamin Gaillard.
And other culinary specialties!
Place Benjamin Gaillard hosts a big top which transforms into a large area of sharing and conviviality. In addition to Corsican specialties, several typical specialties are offered to enjoy on-site: pizzas, flammekueches, various traditional dishes, seafood, and sweet and savory crepes. The bodega area is open on Friday evening, Saturday evening, and all day Sunday.
DJ nights
Two DJ nights hosted by Stéphane Lucido and Aimé Garnier will be offered during the weekend under the marquee of the food court. Come in numbers to dance to the best music from the 80s, 90s, 2000s to today! Free admission.
