An election to restore the Chamber's true missions

More than 2 million people were called to vote in these elections. Upon receiving the voting materials at home, they were able to cast their votes by mail or online. Among these voters, 450,000 agricultural employees were concerned. In Var, the Coordination Rurale list (100% farmers, united, let's defend our future!) was led by Max Bauer, president of the CR of Var and PACA, heading the list for the third time.

SUPPORTING AND ADVISING FARMERS

"It is with motivation and determination that my 20 running mates from the college of farm operators or equivalent, including two alternates, and my 3 running mates from the college of former operators or equivalent, led three meetings to present our program," explains the president of the agricultural union of Var. He adds: "The Coordination Rurale of Var wants to restore the Chambre d'Agriculture to the missions for which it was created, namely to support, advise farmers and shape a territorial agriculture. It must be close and attentive, supporting and defending the interests of all agricultural professions. It must respect the diversity of agricultures and farmers. Faced with the isolation inherent in our professions, it is necessary to build bonds of solidarity among us. The territories will be strengthened and will be a driver of local development." Thus, on January 9, Max Bauer launched his campaign in La Garde. A very large number of farmers, horticulturists, and politicians attended this event.

A WILL FOR NEUTRALITY

The meeting was kicked off by Cédric Abellon, who sang the RCT's Pilou Pilou, the anthem of the Mayol stadium. After introducing themselves, all the running mates, forming a pack behind their captain Max Bauer, were ready to jump into the scrum. Then, the latter swapped his CR jersey for an unmarked jacket to show his desire for neutrality in his fight for the presidency of the Chambre d'Agriculture. For Max Bauer insists, he wants "to be the president of all farmers." During this sequence, we noted the presence of Laure Lavalette, MP for Var, Julien Argento (alternate MP and president of the UDR of Var), Stéphane Rambaud, MP for the 3rd constituency of Var, accompanied by Nathalie parliamentary assistant, deputy mayor of Hyères, Véronique Bernardini, departmental councilor, Karine Tropini, member of the municipal council of Hyères, and local stakeholders. The meeting had begun with the distribution of 26 playing cards, symbolically handed out to reshuffle the deck and show their hand for the next 6 years in managing the institution. This innovative formula allowed for great exchanges and touching testimonies between the audience and Max Bauer. In the same spirit, the Coordination Rurale had organized meetings at the Domaine Gavoty in Cabasse and in Saint-Anne d’Evenos.

At the time of writing, the results of the Chambre d'Agriculture elections are not yet known. Indeed, the counting and announcement of the results will take place at the prefecture of Var in Toulon, on Friday, February 7.

THE ROLE OF THE CHAMBRES D'AGRICULTURE:

Institutionally, the Chambres d'agriculture are public establishments whose role is to represent the interests of the agricultural, forestry, and rural world at both local and national levels. They play a leading role in rural areas. At the heart of their missions, they represent farmers before public authorities and local communities. They work to improve the economic and social competitiveness of agricultural businesses. Supporting farm transitions by encouraging the establishment of younger generations is also part of their actions.
