The Comité départemental de cyclotourisme structures itself

In 2024, 51 cycle touring events were organized by the clubs of Var, averaging one per week. For its operation, the Comité départemental relies on committees (Training, Safety, Youth, Mountain Bike Schools, Tourism, Technical, Route, etc.). Thus, the Route committee is led by Hubert Larose, president of the La Londe club (UCPL).

It includes 10 presidents of clubs in Var. A meeting was held on January 31 in La Londe-les-Maures. Its work helps to improve exchanges between clubs and to assist them (changes in board members, event organization, etc.).

It acts as a liaison with the Fédération and promotes the sharing of experiences between clubs.

END OF THE COUPE DU RANDONNEUR On January 31, the committee discussed the Coupe du Randonneur and the CHCV. The committee thanked Albert for his work and the monthly updates to the federal calendar. Hubert Larose looks back on what was decided: "The Coupe du Randonneur concerns 3 clubs (TPG La Garde, VSCH, CC La Farlède) out of the 47 clubs in Var.

The ranking includes 59 cycle tourists out of 1,600 registered members. The volume of work this represents was debated at length. No one wishes to take over from Albert.

This historical tradition no longer resonates with the majority of members, interest being limited to a few people. After a very open debate, it was decided to discontinue this system.

For the CHCV awards, the tracking and ranking are less burdensome and are therefore maintained. As for the women's committee, it is merged with the Route committee."

POPULAR CONCENTRATIONS Furthermore, the committee wishes to increase the support provided to clubs by the CODEP for organizing a Concentration Hivernale des Clubs Varois (CHCV), raising the amount from ‑100 to ‑150. The president of the Route committee explains: "These concentrations are appreciated and allow for exchanges between clubs, especially during the winter period. Following a proposal by clubs neighboring Var to invite clubs from Bouches-du-Rhône or Alpes-Maritimes, Alain Rifflart (Roquebrune-sur-Argens) maintains that this does not work.

In addition, the committee notes that it is sometimes difficult to identify clubs solely by reading their acronyms (UCPL, CCLF, CCRG, CCC, ECCA, etc.). It asks each club to specify their town of origin.

Regarding certificates, this type of event is no longer organized. In 2026, the Hyères club (VSCH) plans to organize some (200 km and 400 km). The Comité Départemental supports these initiatives.

Finally, the committee notes that some clubs are facing difficulties due to the resignation of many presidents. Indeed, like many associations, they are also confronted with a lack of volunteers to run them. The members confirm their support and are ready to provide the necessary assistance.
