In 2025, continuation of PPI works and rehabilitation of major roads

While each municipality has its identity, history, specificities, and neighborhoods, each neighborhood is unique and requires special attention. This is of course the case in Cavalaire, as the first magistrate assures: "This is what we did in 2024, through the meetings of the 9 neighborhoods, during which we tried to respond as best as possible to grievances."

PPI WORKS

The mayor notably mentions the setting up of an environmental brigade patrolling on bicycles, the planting of 80 trees of 15 different varieties in the park of the HLM de la Chêneraie, and the creation of a new playground in square Gleizes. The work of the Municipalité also consisted of road repairs, defining priorities thanks to the Plan pluriannuel d'investissement (rue du Cap, parking de la Chêneraie, allée de la bergerie, rue Aubanel, chemin du Paradou, allée Sultane, chemin de la Castillane, place du marché, chemin des mannes, avenue du Rigaud, rue Rouget de l'Isle, boulevard Pasteur, rue des Sables). The elected official adds: "We also renovated the port's association rooms, damaged by bad weather and time, and carried out major roadworks on avenue Pierre et Marie Curie and avenue Frédéric Mistral. We are continuing the PPI works and the rehabilitation of major roads in 2025. We have also worked in close collaboration with the services of the Département, which finalized the DCE for the development of the cycle path between Fenouillet and the hameau du Dattier. The works will start at the end of 2025." Another piece of good news is that the project management contract for the safety studies and the commissioning of the PCL between the jardins du Rayol and the hameau du Dattier will be awarded during the first quarter of 2025. We hope to be able to start the works as quickly as possible by 2026.

BEACH EROSION

And, a study is underway for the creation of a secure greenway on the lands of the Conservatoire du littoral between Cavalaire and La Croix-Valmer. The Ville hopes to be able to finalize things quickly with René Carandente, the first deputy mayor of La Croix-Valmer. Furthermore, Philippe Leonelli mentions the situation of the beaches and the erosion affecting them: "This is a subject that deserves a few minutes of attention. It is a sensitive and emotional subject because we are of course all attached to our beaches, which are one of the essential drivers of our territory's attractiveness. Of all the regions in France, the région Sud is the one with the most coastal municipalities threatened by marine erosion. During the last census by the ministère de la transition écologique, 23 cities located by the sea were identified as being at risk. The Var concentrates most of the red zones, and Cavalaire is no exception. Since January 1, 2018, the Communauté de communes du Golfe de Saint-Tropez has taken over the management of aquatic environments and flood prevention (GEMAPI). This competence is no longer the responsibility of the municipality." Currently, studies are being conducted to develop a specific action plan, particularly for Cavalaire, and the Ville is only waiting for State approvals. This plan, which is expected to come into effect in 2026, aims to safeguard the coastline through major works, including the installation of geotextile tubes to reinforce the beaches. The mayor concludes: "While long-term solutions are being considered, many of you legitimately wonder about the condition of our beaches as early as next season. To combat erosion in the short and medium term, the municipality has already put concrete actions in place. A file is underway with the DDTM for the profiling of the town center beaches, between La Castillane and Les Flots Bleus, as in previous years. What is new for 2025 is the work on new beaches that have been very severely eroded, notably due to more frequent storms this year and strong easterly gales. Thus, a sand replenishment operation is underway on the plage du Parc and between the beach lots of la Paillotte and les Dauphins until March 15. A gentle technique that consists of replenishing the beach with sand collected from the water a few meters from the shore, in order to compensate for its sedimentary deficit."
