Marc Ubeda beautifies electrical transformers

From commercial windows decorated during the Christmas period or on specific themes throughout the year, to murals, as well as passing on his knowledge of plastic arts to the children of Bormes-les-Mimosas and Le Lavandou, Marc Ubeda is a key figure in the local landscape. The artist talks about his exciting work: 'For a few years now, my clientele has included business owners who wanted to decorate their shopfronts for an event. At first, I became known through requests for caricatures painted on windows, and year after year, my order book grew. Then, I got involved in municipal structures to supervise children or assist them during various events. I also participate in certain local community life events.' Today, the artist is changing direction. Commissioned by the Ville de Bormes-les-Mimosas, his mission is to make the electrical transformers in the station district more aesthetically pleasing.

LITTORAL TRAIN

After consultation with technical services staff on the artistic and historical choices, the project was born to blend perfectly into the landscape. Based on postcards of yesteryear, 'Le Macaron', a coastal train linking Toulon to Saint-Raphaël between 1889 and 1948, appears. Also blending into the urban landscape in a perfect illusion is the continuity of flowers or trompe-l'œil elements of residences. Five beautiful creations that have been particularly praised by passers-by and residents. Some even say they recognize the brushstrokes of the master craftsman. At the dawn of his 57th birthday (which he does not look), it is with a look back that the artist takes us through his career and his youth when his drawings and caricatures were already appreciated in Toulouse where he was born. He left the Ville Rose to build a travel journal, gain professional experience. First stop New-York, followed by Nouvelle-Calédonie. He worked in a major communication agency in Nouméa where he became familiar with computer-aided presentation. He met Sandrine, who became his partner and collaborator, and the couple then flew to Paris. In 1998, missing the Caledonian sun, the couple settled in Bormes-les-Mimosas. Here, they had the joy of seeing their son Ruben born in 2000. A young man whose parents' genes do not lie, as he is an art director working in Paris.
