Le Souvenir Français, guardian of memory

Colette Cateni, president of the Pierrefeu committee and interim president for the Cuers committee, opened the discussions with a welcoming speech. A minute of silence was observed by the audience, in tribute to the deceased members and to the soldiers who passed away or died for France.

ELECTION OF CHANTAL CHANUT

Although no longer having a president at its helm, the Cuers committee was very active and present during the numerous patriotic ceremonies and various commemorations. The meeting continued with a reading by Henri Lafage, who detailed the many actions carried out in 2024, and the presentation of the financial report. The reports were unanimously adopted. Then, Colette Cateni proposed the candidacy of Chantal Chanut for the position of vice-president of the committee. This candidacy received the majority of the assembly. Then, the president highlighted the various actions that could be carried out with young people and, more particularly, with the municipality's schools. Projects related to the transmission of the duty of remembrance are also under study. Thus, the committee is already working on upcoming major events and will be involved in the various commemorations. The meeting was the occasion for two award presentations. Thus, Marylène Lions, flag bearer of the Cuers committee, received the diploma of honor accompanied by her official badge. The second was awarded to Henri Lafage, who served as president. He received the diploma of memorial recognition on behalf of the ACSPMG (Histoire et Patrimoine de la Maréchaussée à la Gendarmerie), chaired by Nicolas Moulin. This distinction comes within the framework of the maintenance and preservation of the memory of the events of December 1851. Indeed, Henri Lafage personally committed himself to maintaining the grave of gendarmerie brigadier Lambert, killed during this tragic episode during the coup d'état of President Napoléon III.
