With pride, 1,500 students proclaim the sailor's code
On March 15 in Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer, Army General Thierry Burkhard, Chef d’État-major des Armées, presided over the flag presentation ceremony.

This ceremony was held in the presence of local elected officials, military and civil authorities, patriotic associations, the students' families, and all military and civilian personnel of the PEM. During this ceremony, Rear Admiral Guillaume Merveilleux du Vignaux, commanding the PEM, presented the students and the military and civilian personnel of the unit to the two flags in his custody. First, that of the naval gunners and fleet apprentice mechanics, and, second, to the flag of the École de maistrance entrusted to the custody of the Centre d'Instruction Naval de Brest.
Many guests attended the highlight of this ceremony, which was the presentation of the bâchis by the authorities to the young recruits from the Dixmude class of the École des matelots. These students, joined by the "Second maître Monique Bardet" class of the École de maistrance, proudly proclaimed the sailor's code, thus testifying to their commitment to serve.
Then, the Chef d'État-major des Armées delivered an address before a parade of the troops, accompanied by the Musique de la Marine nationale.
