High-intensity exercises for the Commandant Birot

During this mission, the Commandant Birot integrated into the Standing Nato Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2), permanent maritime group of OTAN in the Méditerranée, for over 56 days, contributing to the permanent and reactive posture of the Alliance in the region. STEADFAST DART 25 The PHM Commandant Birot thus took part in two major OTAN exercises.

On one hand, from January 13 to February 27. The first major deployment of OTAN's Allied Reaction Force (ARF) took place on the Alliance's eastern flank with the exercise STEADFAST DART 25. Designed to react quickly to any security deterioration within OTAN member states, this exercise brought together 9 allied nations, including France, and more than 10,000 military personnel.

It consisted of a land phase in Roumanie and a maritime phase in the mer Égée.

The PHM Birot participated in this latter phase alongside the tripartite minehunter (CMT) Capricorne and 13 other allied naval units of Spanish, Italian, Greek, and Turkish nationalities, covering a wide range of ship types, from aircraft carriers to submarines, as well as anti-submarine and anti-aircraft frigates. Both French vessels developed their interoperability with other allied nations in various fields of naval warfare.

Then in the exercise DYNAMIC MANTA 2025. Thus, in early March, the PHM and a French nuclear attack submarine (SNA) took part in this anti-submarine warfare exercise in the canal de Sicile.

Ten allied nations (Grèce, Espagne, Italie, France, États-Unis, Royaume-Uni, Turquie, Canada, Pays-Bas, Allemagne) mobilized 9 surface units, 6 submarines, and 13 aircraft for this high-intensity exercise, reflecting the high level of preparedness and the determination of the allies to defend their borders.

In parallel with these cooperation activities, the Commandant Birot contributed to France's autonomous situational awareness in the central and eastern Méditerranée.
