The music school becomes a Conservatoire à Rayonnement Intercommunal

It is an order from the ministère de la Culture, dated January 8, 2025, which officialised this new name for the École de Musique et de Danse du Syndicat Intercommunal de la Corniche des Maures (Le Lavandou – Bormes-les-Mimosas).

It becomes a Conservatoire à Rayonnement Intercommunal (CRI), with a dance specialty. A source of pride for this institution which has 325 students.

To its official name will also be added that of "Ernest Reyer", a famous French composer who passed away in Le Lavandou in 1909. President of the school since 2008 and an elected official of the Municipalité, Laurence Touze recalls the context: "I insisted that our establishment be a local school, combining high-quality teaching with a warm atmosphere. Our success is due to collective work of sharing and listening, between teachers and the administration.

"But above all, it is thanks to our communes, which provide considerable assistance for each of our students, that it is possible to provide a high-quality artistic education with qualified teachers supported by an efficient administrative team. At a lower cost, the practice of dance, singing, and music is accessible to everyone."

She adds: "This 'Conservatoire Ernest Reyer' accreditation does not mark the end of a journey but the continuity of a path. We must not give up and must continuously question ourselves; in the era of blue screens, social networks, and mobile phones, we must constantly reinvent ourselves to captivate our dear children, while trying to speak their language."

And, to celebrate this official recognition, the auditorium of the pôle musique et danse intercommunal welcomed all the people (elected officials, citizens, many personalities, and dance and music teachers) who participated in the evolution of this musical association, which was created more than half a century ago, and who were involved in this success.
