Tree-lined pathways and green corridor for safe travel
The town continues its urban transformation with green and accessible developments, promoting eco-friendly travel and a better quality of life...
Recently, Avenue Pierre de Coubertin was redesigned to become a green urban space, complementing the town's other tree-lined and safe developments. This transformation aims to facilitate eco-friendly travel, while being adapted for people with reduced mobility. Vehicle parking was removed to make way for a continuous green corridor crossing the municipality.
GREEN PROMENADE In May, a new promenade was created, with a circuit connecting the Grand Jardin to the beaches. This path, made up of 700 plants (shrubs and perennials) and 51 trees, provides cooling potential thanks to varied species such as plane trees, lime trees, Judas trees, nettle trees, and sophoras. The natural or stabilized soils were made permeable to promote rainwater infiltration.
The cost of this project amounts to €408,000. This initiative is part of a broader approach to rewild urban spaces and improve the quality of life of residents.
During the inauguration, the mayor, surrounded by Charlotte Bouvard, deputy in charge of the environment, as well as elected officials and future users, expressed his satisfaction. He emphasized that this green corridor allows for the naturalization of 60% of Avenue Pierre de Coubertin, offering a pleasant setting for residents and passers-by.

Even though the trees still need to grow to offer us their urban canopy, they will undoubtedly have an immediate effect on the quality of life of residents and the pleasure of passers-by walking under the plane trees, lime trees, Judas trees, nettle trees, sophoras... Rather than weaving between cars on asphalt.

He also addressed local residents' concerns regarding the original parking at this location. To address this, he announced the creation of a 35-space car park on land adjacent to the green corridor and the sports field, available during the summer period.
More and more residents and visitors are using the town's various green promenades. These include the seafront planted promenade, the green corridors of Avenue du Président Auriol and the eco-district, the soft mobility path at the town entrance, as well as the back-beach promenades of L'Anglade and Cavalière.
These developments reflect the municipality's desire to prioritize accessible and pleasant green spaces, while meeting the needs of users.
