This summer, the Union des Hyérois (UDH) crossed the city like flipping through a book of living images: lively neighborhoods, sun-drenched squares...
On every page, the same generous faces: those of the volunteers. They are the ones who, without counting their hours, preserve the living heritage, maintain social ties, and make the city vibrant.
“Soupes au pistou, bouillabaisses, aïolis, sardinades, guinguettes, markets, ward festivals... Behind every shared dish and every lively guinguette, there are committed women and men. This commitment is not only festive; it is deeply civic.
It asserts that the city does not belong to indifference, but to those who roll up their sleeves to make it live,” says François Cornileau.
ÀNotre-Dame de Consolation, le CIL de Costebelle a servi un pistou au parfum de souvenirs. Place Rabaton, Amuse-toi vieux Hyères, a dressé un aïoli éclatant sous un soleil rieur. À la gare, la bouillabaisse de la Sainte- Madeleine a transformé le quartier en port méditerranéen. Aux Salins, à Giens, à l’Ayguade, à La Bayorre, au port, à La Capte... partout, la beauté des sites se mêlait aux couleurs des traditions. Sous les pins, au bord des salins dorés ou face à la mer, chaque rencontre portait la même promesse : celle de garder vivante l’âme d’Hyères.
LIVING SOUL OF HYÈRES At Notre-Dame de Consolation, the CIL de Costebelle served a pistou with the scent of memories. At Place Rabaton, Amuse-toi vieux Hyères set up a radiant aïoli under a playful sun. At the station, the Sainte-Madeleine bouillabaisse transformed the neighborhood into a Mediterranean port.
In Salins, Giens, l'Ayguade, La Bayorre, the port, La Capte... everywhere, the beauty of the sites blended with the colors of traditions. Under the pines, on the edge of the golden salt marshes, or facing the sea, each encounter carried the same promise: to keep the soul of Hyères alive.
“Every Saturday morning, after our activist breakfasts, we returned to the market. Between the vibrant stalls of plump tomatoes, fragrant melons, bouquets of basil, amber honeys, and silvery fish, conversations flowed amidst the scents of fresh herbs and warm bread. There were our producers, farmers, fishermen, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and volunteers, all key players in local life, weaving this unique bond between land, sea, and inhabitants each week,” adds the candidate for the municipal elections.
For his part, Max Bauer, his running mate, continues: “In 2026, we will act to ensure these voices are heard. The Union des Hyérois will relaunch the major popular festivals that are so sorely missed: the national holiday, the cut flower festival, and other unifying celebrations. We will defend our traditions not as frozen folklore, but as a living force, a driver of attractiveness, and a tool for cohesion.
Hyères is fortunate to have residents who give without counting. They are our greatest wealth. Their commitment is our heritage and our responsibility. With them, we will build an open city, proud of its roots, strong in its solidarity, and ambitious for its future.”
