Hubert Larose: "UCPL cyclists are already off to a flying start!"
After a summer without a real break, members of the Union Cycliste et Pédale Londaise (UCPL) are already on the roads of Var.
Thus, for the mountain biking school, the end of the federal year concluded with a weekend dedicated to downhill riding (in les Ores) for the older ones and an afternoon dedicated to biking in the park of Garéoult for the younger ones. SUCCESS OF THE MOUNTAIN BIKING SCHOOL After the holidays, the start of the new term for the mountain biking school confirmed the success of the structure developed by UCPL over the last few years. Thus in September, for the first Saturday afternoon of the resumption and, because of the bad weather forecast, the young cyclists, their parents and the supervisors met at the Cassin hall for registration.
A mandatory administrative step. This session allowed for many discussions on the school's activity. "For the first year, the numerous registration files were handed over to Raymonde, the club's treasurer, for processing, which simplified our work," says Hubert Larose, the dynamic president of UCPL.

Ainsi en septembre, pour le premier samedi après-midi de la reprise et, à cause des mauvaises conditions météo annoncées, les jeunes cyclistes, leurs parents et les encadrants se sont retrouvés à la salle Cassin pour les inscriptions. Une étape administrative obligatoire. Cette séance a permis de nombreux échanges sur l’activité de l’école. Pour la première année, les nombreux dossiers d’inscription ont été remis à Raymonde, la trésorière du club, pour les enregistrements, ce qui a simplifié notre travail », raconte Hubert Larose, le dynamique président de l'UCPL. Pour les pratiquants du vélo de route, les trois sorties hebdomadaires n’ont pas cessé durant l’été. À l'UCPL, qu'il pleuve, qu'il vente ou que le soleil brille, le vélo ne reste pas au garage ! Le mauvais temps n'arrête pas les pèlerins ni les cyclistes ! « Début juillet, le club a organisé un séjour à Barcelonnette. Il a participé à la semaine fédérale à Orléans (Loiret), début août, et les pédestres du club ont effectué 4 jours de randonnée à Vallouise. Bref, cet été les cyclistes et les randonneurs ont été bien occupés », se félicite Hubert Larose.
For road cyclists, the three weekly rides did not stop during the summer. At UCPL, whether it rains, blows a gale, or the sun shines, the bike does not stay in the garage! Bad weather does not stop pilgrims or cyclists!
"At the beginning of July, the club organized a trip to Barcelonnette. It participated in the federal week in Orléans (Loiret), in early August, and the club's hikers completed 4 days of hiking in Vallouise. In short, this summer, cyclists and hikers were well occupied," welcomes Hubert Larose.
APRIL 12, 2026, IT'S LA MAURIN DES MAURES! In mid-September, UCPL organized a trip to Apt (Vaucluse) which allowed members to visit Lubéron and discover the ochre route. During this trip, the club's most athletic members participated in the legendary Drômoise, a cycling event taking place over 3 days around Die.
For adult mountain bikers, the two weekly training sessions continued, sometimes with adapted routes depending on the weather warnings. "On the administrative side, work resumed, notably with, on September 16, the first preparatory meeting for the 'La Maurin des Maures' mountain bike ride, which will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Finally, the 2025 vintage of the forum bodes well for the club since 30 people showed interest in our activities, 10 have already joined and integrated into the Londaise peloton," welcomes the president of UCPL.
