The Institut Médico Educatif (IME) Bell'Estello at the heart of inclusion
On September 23, the IME organized an open day for its second-hand shop, an ambitious project led by its young residents.
Created three years ago, this shop, located at the heart of the Institut Bell'Estello, provides children and adolescents with a space where they can find quality clothes at a lower cost, while learning how to run a business independently. The concept is simple, as the clothes come from donations and the shop operates on a barter or service exchange system. The youth handle management and sales themselves, which is a real educational and training experience for them.
SHOP IN HYÈRES The day was marked by the visit of Hervé Stassinos, the mayor, accompanied by the councillor for disability, Éric Galiano. They praised the commitment of the young people and made a purchase before the delighted eyes of the children: 'This project, the fruit of several years of work and collaboration, perfectly illustrates the spirit of initiative and autonomy that the institute wishes to instill in its youth.
The future opening of the shop in the center of Hyères should make it possible to pursue these objectives on a larger scale, while strengthening the links between the institute and the local population. This is why the City provides its support to the various projects whenever possible,' specified Hervé Stassinos.
During this day, a pop-up tearoom was set up by the children. Cakes, drinks, decoration, and sales were done by the young people, demonstrating their creativity and sense of responsibility. This initiative aimed to prepare for the next step, which is the establishment of a shop open to the public and a tearoom in Hyères.
