Gendarmerie reservists took the oath
On September 4, the judicial court of Toulon hosted a ceremony filled with solemnity and pride.
40 reservists from the operational reserve of the Gendarmerie départementale du Var took their oath before the jurisdiction to which they belong. After the presentation of what this important act represented and under the watchful eye of the magistrates, in the presence of the Service Réserve Jeunesse office and their loved ones, these men and women pronounced the traditional formula "I swear", after raising their right hand, an act that seals their commitment to the Republic.
The operational reserve of the Gendarmerie départementale du Var is composed of more than 700 volunteers, from all social and professional categories and all ranks, including non-commissioned officers, officers, and enlisted men and women. It acts as a reinforcement for territorial units for diverse and varied missions.
ESSENTIAL STEP "Through this oath, they commit to serving with honor, loyalty, and discipline, and to fully participating in the public safety missions entrusted to the gendarmerie and within the framework of their duties. This step constitutes an essential part of their journey since their initial training (préparation militaire gendarmerie)," recalls Nicolas Moulin, deputy head of the Service Réserve Jeunesse.
The presence of families gave the ceremony a human and warm dimension, recalling that behind every uniform are women and men who balance personal life, professional activity, and civic commitment. "This swearing-in seals their commitment and illustrates the strength of the army-nation bond.
It bears witness to the desire of many citizens to be directly involved in protecting their fellow citizens. By joining the so-called level 1 operational reserve, a component of the garde nationale, they become actors in daily security," adds Adjudant Moulin.
