Argentine honors the commune

This is the highest decoration awarded by the République Argentine to a foreign dignitary, in recognition of their commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries. This distinction, received on behalf of all Borméennes and Borméens, praised the work carried out for several years to promote the history shared with Argentine, around the figure of Hyppolite Bouchard, a navigator born in Bormes in 1780.
A hero of South American independence, Bouchard took part in the liberation of Buenos-Aires, founded the Argentine and Peruvian navies, and worked towards the international recognition of the République Argentine. His journey, little known in France, is highlighted thanks to innovative cultural mediation tools, within the Musée d'Histoire et d'Arts de Bormes, which uses augmented reality.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Ambassador Ian Selecki, civil and military Argentine representatives, reserve commodore and friend of the commune, Doctor Daniel Degani, as well as several Borméens who contributed to bringing Bormes-les-Mimosas and Argentine closer together. Including Valérie Collet, former director of the Office de Tourisme, and Daniel Monier, deputy mayor, committed to promoting this shared memory and friendship with Argentine.
The presence of Brigitte Macron, out of friendship for the Arizzi couple, was noted. It is part of the connection that the commune maintains with the institutions of the République, including the Fort de Brégançon.
