In La Londe, CM2 classes from the Jean Jaurès and Antoine Bussone schools took part in this traditional parade. Preceded by the municipal police who secured the procession, and behind the flags of Le Souvenir Français and patriotic associations, the schoolchildren, supervised by members of Le Souvenir Français, teachers, and parents, found the town in a respectful silence. In front of the war memorial where the elected officials awaited them, president Yves Boyer recalled the need to transmit memory to successive generations by instilling in them the remembrance of the dead, the ideal of liberty, and love of country. After the laying of the Flammes de l'Espoir by the youth municipal councillors representing each class, the teachers read out the names of the 57 young Londais who died for France from 1914 to 1918. The minute of silence, the Marseillaise, and the children's verse sung by the pupils, followed by an address by the mayor, closed the ceremony marked by solemnity and remembrance on the eve of the commemoration ceremonies of the Armistice de 1918. This ceremony was preceded in each school by a presentation on the First World War through numerous slideshows.
