The rich and little-known musical journey of Christian Bondroit
Fairplay 83 is a band of musicians performing on the local scene.
Founded in September 2020 by Christian Bondroit and his colleague Jacques, the band currently consists of Jacques on keyboards, Alain on bass guitar, Paule on saxophone, Jean-Claude on rhythm and lead guitar, and, of course, Christian on drums. The singer, Roger, joined the team in March 2025 and is already well known in the region. The band's founder, Christian Bondroit, has had an inspiring musical journey. Indeed, after playing drums during his childhood, he put the instrument aside for several years. However, 13 years ago, he decided to reconnect with his passion by taking classes at a drum school in La Gard.
ROCK ADVENTURE
Initially attracted to jazz, the drummer of Fairplay 83 had to face reality as it is difficult to find musicians sharing this same passion. Five years later, he met artists who also wanted to embark on this rock adventure. Together, they dedicate themselves to a repertoire from the 80s and 90s, with a particular emphasis on French variety. The program includes songs by Eddy Mitchell, Jacques Dutronc, Michel Sardou, Johnny Hallyday, and many others, not forgetting a few foreign bands. Today, the band Fairplay 83 has between 50 and 60 songs in its repertoire, allowing them to perform for over three hours on stage. "We adapt our repertoire depending on the atmosphere on site," explains Christian Bondroit. The members regularly perform in the Var, and the audience has been able to hear them in Bandol, in Hyères, and, of course, in La Londe-les-Maures. The band Fairplay 83 participates in six or seven performances a year. Rehearsals take place every Thursday afternoon, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Christian shares his passion with enthusiasm: "When I am on stage, I am in my own bubble. It is a real pleasure. For me, every performance is an opportunity to share my passion and thrill the audience." While waiting for their next stage appearance, Fairplay 83 continues to make an impression and delight music lovers, proving that passion and teamwork can lead to beautiful artistic adventures. •
