Christophe Madrolle elected vice-president
On December 16, the members of the Conseil maritime de façade (CMF) Méditerranée met at the Direction interrégionale de la mer Méditerranée.
This final meeting of the year 2025, in the presence of Didier Mamis, secrétaire général pour les affaires régionales, representing the préfet de Région, and vice-amiral d'escadre Christophe Lucas, préfet maritime de la Méditerranée, coordinating prefects of the façade, opened the new term of the CMF (2025-2028). It made it possible to elect the members of the commission permanente and to define the priorities for the year 2026. This new term, which is part of the continuity of the previous one, is enriched by the force of proposal constituted by the fourteen designated representatives.
SIMPLIFICATION For its installation, the Conseil maritime de façade, a consultative body bringing together maritime and coastal stakeholders at the scale of the French Méditerranée, invited Jean-Charles Orsucci, president of the Association nationale des élus des littoraux and mayor of Bonifacio, to share the vision of elected officials for the years to come. He emphasized the climatic, socio-economic, and environmental challenges that must be integrated into public policies and projects. He stressed the need for simplifying procedures and for territorial tailoring of public maritime and coastal policies through the prefect/mayor duo.
For his part, Eric Banel, directeur général des affaires maritimes, de la pêche et de l'aquaculture of the ministère chargé de la Transition écologique, highlighted the quality of the work of all the stakeholders that led to the revision of the strategic component of the document stratégique de façade and recalled the priorities for maritime planning in 2026 at the national level. MAIN CHALLENGES Thus, the members of the Conseil maritime de façade collectively committed to promoting the integration of the document stratégique de façade into regional and sub-regional planning documents (SRADDET, SCoT, etc.). They intend to pursue the labeling of strong protection zones, the deployment of offshore wind power, the limitation of the artificialization of coastal environments, the strengthening of the land-sea link, and the ecological restoration of habitats and species.
They also wish to strengthen the implementation of the document stratégique de façade.
With regard more particularly to the deployment of floating offshore wind in the Méditerranée, the conclusions of the MIGRALI ON program were presented to the members after four years of work. The unprecedented knowledge provided by the program regarding the bird species present and the seasonality of their movements will, in particular, allow for a better definition of impact studies for offshore wind farm projects, as well as the associated avoidance, reduction, and monitoring measures on avifauna. Dedicated monitoring will be set up on this theme within the framework of the Conseil.
• PLEASE NOTE... The 80 members of the CMF proceeded to elect their representatives to the commission permanente, for a term of three years. Elected were: Didier CORDONIOU, vice-président of the région Occitanie and mayor of Gruissan, president of the commission permanente of the Conseil maritime de façade.
