A new scanner at the hospital
This state-of-the-art equipment serves the population of the Hyères basin.
For the past few weeks, the Centre Hospitalier d'Hyères has had a new scanner, replacing the old equipment. More efficient and modern, this new device integrates artificial intelligence technologies to optimize image quality, patient care, and examination time. As the only scanner in the Hyères basin, this replacement guarantees continuity and safety of care, while improving exam precision and patient comfort.
The cost of this investment is €545,000 including tax. The Centre Hospitalier d'Hyères thus reaffirms its commitment to investing in latest-generation equipment, which is essential for a high-quality, local healthcare offering.
The medico-technical diagnostic department is an inter-facility department between the CHITS and the CHH under the responsibility of Dr Cécile Poggi. Pr Serge Agostini coordinates the imaging activities within the department, assisted by Xavier Stysial, senior healthcare manager.
In 2024, 21,984 scanner procedures were performed at the Centre Hospitalier d'Hyères, which is nearly 1,300 more scanners than in 2023.

However, this technological advancement must not overshadow the persistent challenges: repeated under-investment, staff shortages, and growing pressure on infrastructure. The fact that this scanner is the only one in the Hyères basin reminds us that our city needs a more ambitious healthcare strategy."
