Jean-Baptiste Quinon has taken over the reins of “Cap Favière”

It came very close to the district of la Favière, the economic and tourist lung of Bormes-les-Mimosas, losing one of its essential engines. After two highly tense general assemblies and a temporary dissolution of the board, the association « Cap Favière » finally found a second wind on October 2. 'A relief for residents and local actors who feared seeing this lively area turn into a simple dormitory town in the off-season,' explains the president. Thus, Jean-Baptiste Quinon has taken over the presidency of « Cap Favière », succeeding Mathieu Demangel. He is supported in this task by Anne-Lise Tessier as vice-president, Cédrik Blocka as treasurer, and Aurore Garde de Lattre as secretary. This new team, combining volunteer commitment and professional logistical support, intends to maintain the level of animation that makes the district unique.

VOLUNTEERING RUNNING OUT OF STEAM

To understand the stakes of this handover, one must look at the record of the previous term. 'For six years, Mathieu Demangel and his wife Mélissa, well-known figures of the « Petit Casino », carried the association on their shoulders. With 69 members out of 96 registered businesses, the representativeness was strong and the financial results healthy. Under their leadership, la Favière vibred to the rhythm of super-lotos, garage sales, and fairs hosted by the local mascot,' recalls Jean-Baptiste Quinon. The highlight of this commitment remains, without a doubt, the 2025 edition, marked by a major first with the participation of a float from the association in the famous Corso fleuri. An initiative crowned with success, as « Cap Favière » received the Town's Prize during this emblematic event announcing spring. However, behind these achievements praised by Mayor François Arizzi, who was present at the statutory assembly, a weariness set in. The Demangel couple drew a bitter conclusion about the lack of involvement from many members, with some finding 'criticism easier than creation'. Faced with this pressure and the desire to step back, the entire board resigned. In the absence of immediate candidates, the association was forced into hibernation on September 5.

NEW METHOD

The void was short-lived. Aware that trade abhors silence, several members of the former board refused to give up. On October 2, a new general assembly was called under the chairmanship of Mathieu Demangel. The awakening of the structure was accompanied by a major strategic transformation. To alleviate the heavy workload that got the better of the previous team, the new governance set a condition. It secured the signature of a subcontracting agreement with a young event management company. From now on, the latter takes charge of administrative management and procedures, in agreement with Deputy Mayor Michel Gonzalez, who was also present to support this transition. Tangible proof that the commercial vitality of the district remains an absolute priority, ensuring social connection well beyond the summer season. •
