The seascapes and landscapes of Florence Gillot

She settled in Var at the age of 21, a choice motivated by memorable childhood memories spent on holiday with her parents. The artist has already exhibited in various places, notably in Bormes-les-Mimosas, La Capte (Hyères), La Seyne-sur-Mer, thanks to the Frabreg’ Arts association, Varages, etc. Her open-air exhibitions in private gardens have also won over the public.

UNIQUE APPROACH

Florence explores several artistic themes, each with its own appeal. What sets this artist apart is her unique approach, she does not limit herself to a specific theme. Thus, as part of the "Face à la mer" exhibition, oil on linen and Posca on paper, she highlighted her seascapes and landscapes inspired by the region, paying tribute to the natural beauties of Toulon, Hyères, Cassis, La Seynesur-Mer. For the painter, "blue is a cold color that warms the heart" and she smiles, adding that "a touch of blue does you good." She likes to construct and deconstruct the same subject, as shown by three paintings on display at Galerie Horace Vernet, inspired by the beach of La Mitre in Toulon. Two of them, although from the same photo, are treated differently: one in an exploded form, the other with exaggerated colors, and a third done with a palette knife: "I could explore a subject several times and each painting would be different. That's what amuses me, the interpretation," she explains. During her exhibitions, she appreciates the exchanges with the public, considering these moments as precious opportunities for sharing and dialogue around her art. Her passion for painting and her desire to interact with visitors make her exhibitions lively and enriching events. Now, the painter is preparing her next exhibition at Galerie du Moulin where she will offer "very beautiful and well-finished" works.
