Coudon high school students as jurors for the César des Lycéens
Each year, the Ministère de l’Éducation nationale and the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma invite youth to dive into the world of cinema...

Throughout France, final-year students are discovering the five films in the running for the César 2026 and voting for the one they consider the best. At the Lycée du Coudon, 31 final-year students from the Cinema-Audiovisual section took part in this cultural adventure. After watching the films, either at the Rocher cinema or in class, they carried out genuine analysis and creation work under the guidance of their teachers, Mme Giannoni and Mme Colangelo. Presentation teasers, critical podcasts, and film analyses were produced to present each work to the students gathered for the vote.
ANALYSIS WORK

For the students in the Cinema section, the choice is not based solely on a favorite: "Our choice is not based only on the emotion felt, but also on a more rational analysis, taking into account the directing, the message, and the themes addressed. In particular, we highlighted Un simple accident, a film born in an extremely restrictive political context in Iran, which gives it a very special significance." Beyond choosing the winner, this participation represents an enriching experience for the high schoolers. "These works, which are rarely part of our viewing habits, have nourished our reflection and strengthened our capacity for analysis. It is particularly encouraging to see that our perspective as young people really counts," they share. The exercise is also educational in terms of oral expression: "Presenting the films to other students allows us to gain confidence and learn to express ourselves better in front of an audience, which will be useful to us later in our professional lives." The 51st César ceremony took place on February 26 in Paris. The winner of the 8th César des Lycéens was announced in early March. The official award ceremony took place on March 18 at the Sorbonne, followed by a debate-meeting between the students and the crew of the winning film. We will return in a future edition to follow the journey of the young high school students of Var.
