Each year, the Pôle Écoles Méditerranée of Saint-Mandrier trains more than 8,500 students.
The Pôle École Méditerranée (PEM), based in Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer, trains 8,500 sailors each year for careers in the Marine nationale. Comprising six schools, the PEM is a major player in preparing the Navy of tomorrow. As an incorporation center, it prepares young recruits to carry out their missions with competence, commitment, and crew spirit.
Combining technical know-how, operational excellence, and educational innovation, the PEM supports sailors in their military and professional careers, from seaman to officer. In concrete terms, the PEM is a community of schools turned towards the future and the defense of French interests, offering sharp, demanding, and human-centered training with one mission: to forge the combat sailors of tomorrow.
Having enlisted as a volunteer seaman in 1987, David Samson is a rear admiral and officer of the Légion d'honneur. Former director of the Centre d'études stratégiques de la Marine (CESM), he now commands the largest training center of the Marine nationale, the Pôle Écoles Méditerranée Saint-Mandrier.
