The City commemorated the 64th anniversary of the rue d'Isly shooting, which took place in Alger on March 26, 1962. Organized at the initiative of the association 'Nous autres à La Londe', this annual tribute was held in front of the memorial to the missing in Algérie, bringing together representatives of remembrance associations and elected officials in a spirit of memory and respect. The ceremony began with a historical reminder of the events, delivered by the president of the association, M. Trédici. He recalled the context of this tragic day when unarmed civilian demonstrators, marching to protest the blockade of the Bab El Oued neighborhood, were targeted by French army gunfire, causing the death of dozens of people and leaving many injured. The solemnity of the moment was reinforced by the presence of the flag of the Souvenir Français and the pennon of the Commandos d'Afrique, symbols of the commitment and sacrifice of the fighters. This moment served to highlight the importance of not forgetting this tragedy at the end of the Algérie war and to pay tribute to all the innocent victims. The remembrance continued with the laying of wreaths at the foot of the memorial. The Municipality, followed by the association of the flamme du Souvenir, thus paid a floral tribute, materializing the respect of the community and patriotic associations towards the missing. After a minute of silence observed by all those present, 'La Marseillaise' rang out, followed by 'Le Chant des Africains'. These anthems, sung in chorus by the participants, closed the ceremony in an atmosphere of deep emotion and fraternity, reaffirming the determination to preserve and pass on the memory of these painful events to future generations.
