On Saturday, March 28, Véronique Bernardini was elected mayor by the Conseil municipal, which met at the town hall for its solemn installation meeting. The elected official immediately set the tone for her term, displaying a desire for unity and modernity. From her very first speech, the mayor made a strong impression with a highly symbolic choice, asking to be addressed as "Madame la maire".

A decision which, in her words, aims to position her actions in clarity and modernity. At the heart of her speech, a commitment was made: to be the mayor of all residents, without any distinction. "I will be the mayor of all Hyérois and all Hyéroises," she insisted, thus laying the foundations of a term she wants to be unifying and close to the citizens.

CONSTRUCTIVE OPPOSITION Faced with the new majority, the opposition clarified its position. Jean-Michel Eynard Tomatis, speaking on behalf of his group, affirmed his desire to lead a "constructive" opposition. He called for "in-depth work, in good intelligence," insisting particularly on the crucial issues related to health.

On this priority issue, he advocated for a "responsible collaboration" in the service of the general interest.

In another vein, councillor Sophie Mana clarified her personal position by distancing herself from François Cornilleau and Chantal Portuese, in order to remove any ambiguity regarding her commitment within the municipal assembly.

Signaling a desire to be operational, the new mayor has surrounded herself with a tight team of twelve deputies. The formation of this executive was validated during this first meeting. This speed in setting up the leadership team reflects the ambition to get to work without delay to meet the expectations of the population.

The installation meeting took place in compliance with republican traditions. The local elected official's charter, recalling the principles of ethics, probity, and responsibility inherent to the office, was read before being presented to each of the municipal councillors.

At the end of the meeting, the mayor and her new team visited the Monument aux Morts of the town. A strong symbolic gesture during which a wreath was laid in tribute to the Hyérois who died for France, placing the start of this term under the sign of respect and remembrance.
