Charles, 13: "It was great, we took part in editing a film"

After destinations like Londres, New York or Barcelone, the youth of Le Lavandou set course for Italie. During the spring holidays, nineteen teenagers, accompanied by activity leaders from the youth and sports service, discovered Rome, the Eternal City. This initiative is part of a municipal policy aiming to make unique experiences accessible to young people. According to the local authority, the objective is to promote 'cultural openness, autonomy and living together' through memorable trips that shape memories and personalities.

BETWEEN HISTORY AND ART

Le périple romain a offert aux participants une plongée dans des millénaires d’histoire. Le groupe a pu admirer des sites emblématiques qui font la renommée mondiale de la capitale italienne : le Colisée, la majestueuse fontaine de Trévi, les paisibles jardins Farnèse, l’imposant château Saint-Ange ou encore les mystérieuses catacombes. Le séjour a également été marqué par une incursion dans les hauts lieux de l’art et de l’architecture. La visite de la Villa Borghèse a permis de découvrir des chefs-d’œuvre de la sculpture et de la peinture. Un autre temps fort fut la découverte du Vatican, avec une immersion dans la splendeur de la basilique Saint-Pierre et l’émerveillement devant les fresques de la chapelle Sixtine.

DREAM FACTORY

Au-delà du patrimoine historique, le voyage a exploré des facettes plus contemporaines de la culture italienne. La visite des mythiques studios de Cinecittà, berceau du cinéma italien, a marqué les esprits. Charles, 13 ans et demi et visiblement passionné, cette expérience a été une révélation et a illustré la dimension interactive du séjour. À son retour, il a confié : « C’était génial, nous avons participé au montage d’un film avec effets spéciaux et décor. C’est la première fois que je voyais ça en direct jusqu’à la réalisation finale du visionnage ».

To complete this panorama, a visit to the Stadio Olimpico allowed for a blend of sports culture and the discovery of the country's major modern infrastructures. The trip was not limited to cultural visits. The youngsters returned with smiles on their faces, recalling many moments of sharing and conviviality. To soak up the local atmosphere, the program included shopping sessions, walks in the typical and lively Trastevere district, as well as tastings of artisanal ice creams and authentic Italian pizzas, completing their immersion in daily Roman life. The success of this trip is already motivating future projects. La Municipalité has confirmed the organization of a sports training camp in Vars for the February 2027 holidays. Concerning the next major spring trip, the youth themselves have their say. A suggestion box is available for them to submit their ideas. The destination that wins unanimous support will be the one for the next journey, thus perpetuating a participative and enriching dynamic for the youth of Le Lavandou.
