Free screenings to bring healthcare closer to residents

Faced with the decline in medical and healthcare demographics in Var, L'Assurance Maladie and the Communauté Professionnelle Territoriale de Santé (CPTS) Pays des Maures – Littoral have joined forces to offer local health initiatives. By sending professionals out into the field, these two institutions intend to coordinate care and guarantee access to healthcare for all, particularly in the areas of prevention and screening.

The goal is to meet people where they are, to inform, advise, and act before pathologies set in. DESERTIFICATION PREVENTION The initiative was part of a broader strategy aimed at building a solid and responsive healthcare network in the territory. The CPTS Pays des Maures – Littoral defines itself as the convergence point for all healthcare players.

“We are the community of all healthcare, social, and medico-social stakeholders, around a global approach to health,” its representatives confirmed. By pooling the skills of doctors, nurses, dietitians, and other professionals, the CPTS organizes concrete actions in the form of workshops, conferences, or mobile hotlines to bridge the gaps and meet the specific needs of residents.

Very recently, this collaboration was illustrated by a free screening day in the shopping arcade of the Intermarché in Bormes-les-Mimosas. The event, which attracted a large audience, focused on preventing diabetes and cardiovascular risks. Passersby were able to benefit from blood sugar and blood pressure checks, carried out by qualified professionals.

Two dietitians, Mireille Étienne and Élise Brio-Beckers, answered questions, provided nutritional advice, and explained how to limit risks through an appropriate lifestyle. They were accompanied by Sandrine Camillieri, director of the association Art et Si, which specializes in healthcare assistance and prevention for psychological and medical aid in Est-Var.

The success of this operation reflects a real need for information and simplified access to primary preventive measures. This action in a high-traffic area is not an isolated event. It is part of an ongoing program of consultations and meetings deployed across the entire territory covered by the CPTS.

The Maison de Santé de Bormes-les-Mimosas, for example, regularly hosts this type of initiative. By multiplying contact points and diversifying intervention formats, L'Assurance Maladie and its local partners are building a health network, essential for ensuring effective and equitable health monitoring for the entire Var population.
