Hélène Arnaud-Bill: "L’Escale is a facility already adopted by the public"
One year after opening, L'Escale theatre in La Garde posts record results and launches its new cultural season.
On the occasion of the presentation of its 2026-2027 season, L’Escale theatre celebrated a highly successful first year of operation.
Hélène Arnaud-Bill, mayor of the municipality, presented a highly positive assessment to an audience of partners, cultural actors, and spectators, confirming the now-central place of this facility in the metropolitan landscape. The evening was marked by the signing of a strategic cultural agreement with the Département.
Enthusiasm
Less than a year after its inauguration, L’Escale has won over its audience, exceeding set targets. The results show a clear enthusiasm.
As a result, the first season totaled nearly 7,000 tickets sold and saw its number of members multiplied by almost four. Many shows were sold out, attracting spectators from far beyond the boundaries of La Garde, proof of a program that successfully found its target audience.
Today, we can say it with pride: L’Escale is a cultural facility that is awaited, recognized, and already adopted by the public
This rapid success positions the theatre as a true hub of cultural life in the region.
In just a few months, the theatre has become a place that gathers people, a place that lives, a place that makes people want to come back
Cultural offering
The artistic direction of L’Escale is based on an offering that the Ville claims is "demanding but accessible," with a multidisciplinary program: theatre, music, dance, comedy, and circus. The ambition is to appeal to all generations and all audiences.
Beyond hosting shows, L’Escale is asserting itself as a place of creation and transmission. The facility hosts artist residencies, supports local cultural projects, assists associations, and conducts mediation activities for school groups.
Cooperation with the Conservatoire Toulon Provence Méditerranée (TPM) will be continued to offer a stage for young talents and build bridges between training and professional performance.
Supporting creation is also about preparing the future of culture
A strategic partnership
As the highlight of the evening, the Ville signed a cultural agreement with the Département, presided over by Jean-Louis Masson, consolidating the economic model and the development of the theatre. This partnership is seen as an essential lever to strengthen the attractiveness of L’Escale and the region.

An ambitious 2026-2027 season
On the strength of this first assessment and strengthened institutional support, the 2026-2027 season promises to be varied and ambitious.
The public will be able to discover classics from the repertoire like Le Mariage de Figaro, contemporary creations (Passeport, Touchée par les fées, J’aurais voulu être Jeff Bezos), and comedy with Jessé and Anne Roumanoff.
The musical program will be eclectic, ranging from Offenbach to the great classics of Walt Disney, including artists Emily Loizeau, Tété, and the Chœur de l’Opéra de Toulon.
