In a geostrategic context marked by the return of major confrontations, the French armed forces are stepping up their operational readiness. The Ministère des Armées announced on 24 September the launch of exercise TOLL 26, mobilising nearly 700 soldiers from the 19ème Brigade d’artillerie (19ème BRIGART) over several days.

This large-scale deployment, which took place in the Brignoles area, followed the brigade's notable participation in the joint exercise ORION 26 last spring. It was part of a cycle aimed at strengthening capabilities in the face of modern threats.

A realistic and demanding scenario

Exercise TOLL 26 is designed to place artillery units in a complex, evolving tactical environment that reflects the realities of contemporary battlefields. It aimed to train soldiers to plan, coordinate, and conduct firing operations within a combined-arms and allied framework.

Participants had to face a multitude of simulated threats while implementing lessons learned from recent engagements in global theatres of operation.

Weapon systems, command assets, and intelligence units were put to the test to evaluate the fluidity of the decision-making chain and the accuracy of fire support, a key factor in high-intensity conflicts.
