October 6 marked National Carers Day, a date to recognize and support the millions of people who daily accompany a loved one in a situation of dependency, illness, or disability. On this occasion, the Ville de La Farlède, in collaboration with its Centre communal d’action sociale (CCAS), organized an event dedicated to these essential and often invisible actors of solidarity. This initiative, integrated into the "Rendez-vous de l’automne" program, aimed to offer concrete support to carers, to provide them with practical information, and to allow them to break out of an isolation that is sometimes heavy. Far from being a simple information forum, the event was designed as a place for listening and sharing.

A comprehensive program

The day revolved around several highlights designed to address the multiple facets of the carer role. Participants were able to meet and exchange with a wide panel of professionals and partners from the medico-social sector. These experts were present to deliver personalized advice, guide towards existing aid schemes, and answer questions regarding administrative procedures, psychological support, or daily life adjustments. Awareness sessions were also scheduled to better understand the issues related to accompanying a loved one. The ambition of the Municipality and its CCAS was to create a caring environment where speech can be freed, allowing carers to share their experiences, their difficulties, but also their solutions.

A local actor

The involvement of the Centre communal d’action sociale of La Farlède in organizing this day is no coincidence. As a local actor, the CCAS plays a fundamental role in implementing solidarity policies in the territory. It supports the most fragile people and their families on a daily basis, giving it a detailed knowledge of carers' needs. This special day was therefore a natural extension of its missions, offering targeted and collective support. It highlighted the available local resources and strengthened the bond between institutions and citizens who dedicate themselves to a loved one.
