Military Preparations meet young people
The Préparations Militaires Marine of the Toulon area organized a weekend of meetings for young people on September 5 and 6.
As part of the 400th anniversary of the Marine nationale, the Préparations Militaires Marine (PMM) of La Seyne-sur-Mer, Toulon and Hyères organized several events for young people and their families on September 5 and 6.
These events were an opportunity to discover this civic and military training accessible from the age of 16, to meet the instructors and to learn about the opportunities offered by the Marine.
A one-year training course to discover the Marine
The Préparation Militaire Marine is aimed at young French girls and boys aged 16 to 21, and allows them to immerse themselves in the world of the Marine nationale for a school year, while continuing their studies.

The program is rich and varied. It combines military and maritime instruction, sport, learning seamanship and first aid, as well as safety awareness and the discovery of Marine units and professions.
This training, which takes place on days spread throughout the year and during a period of the Toussaint holidays, constitutes a human experience. It aims to develop in trainees "autonomy, rigor, self-confidence, a taste for effort, a sense of responsibility and crew spirit."
Although the PMM represents a first approach to careers in the Marine and the operational reserve, it does not imply any commitment obligation at its conclusion.
The PMM of La Seyne-sur-Mer
Created in 2005, the PMM "Amiral Trolley de Prévaux" of La Seyne-sur-Mer is located at the Pôle Écoles Méditerranée de Saint-Mandrier, benefiting from leading educational and sports facilities.
With a capacity of 45 trainees, it is supervised by a team of military reservists and recruits in a geographical area including La Seyne-sur-Mer, Six-Fours-les-Plages, Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer, Sanary-sur-Mer, Bandol, Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, Le Beausset and Le Castellet.
