Safety and comfort for nearly 2,000 students
1,905 school children returned to classrooms in La Garde, a back-to-school season marked by major municipal investments.

The school children, divided into 86 classes, consist of 1,195 elementary students and 710 in preschool.
To mark the event, the mayor, Hélène Arnaud-Bill, accompanied by majority elected officials, toured the schools to meet educational teams, municipal staff, parents, and children.
She visited the middle school alongside Jean-Louis Masson, president of the Département, to discuss the challenges of this new school year.
Renovated and secure schools
To welcome students under optimal conditions, the Municipality took advantage of the summer period to carry out several major projects.

The most significant operation concerns the redevelopment of the surroundings of the Pauline-Roland preschool. An investment of €563,902 made it possible to secure access, facilitate the flow of pedestrians and vehicles, and create a more pleasant living environment for families.
In an effort to adapt to climate change, the City continues its efforts to improve the thermal comfort of buildings. The greening and progressive de-paving of school playgrounds are at the heart of this strategy. These developments create cool islands, essential for the well-being of children during periods of high heat.
Strengthened daily support
Beyond infrastructure, the City devotes significant human and financial resources to supporting children. Every day, the 12 school cafeterias serve about 1,600 meals, and nearly 1,300 students benefit from morning and evening extracurricular care.
On the financial side, a budget of €185,000 is allocated to the Caisse des écoles for the purchase of educational materials. An additional €311,000 funds activities organized during the lunch break, school transport, and various educational projects led by teachers.
The quality of supervision remains a priority, with the maintenance of one ATSEM (Agent Territorial Spécialisé des Écoles Maternelles) per preschool class.
Continuous training of staff
The competence of staff working with children is a pillar of the municipality's human resources policy. This summer, several dozen staff members took part in continuous training programs to perfect their professional practices.
Thus, 31 ATSEMs deepened their knowledge of conflict situation management and the prevention of "gentle violence". Meanwhile, 68 technical staff members were trained in food hygiene rules and professional risk prevention.
In the early childhood sector, 80 professionals attended sessions on various topics such as artistic and musical awakening, introduction to reading, and improving relationships with families.
