Christian Garnier: "Go on an unusual exploration into the heart of the mining past"!
The Cap Garonne Mine Museum is launching a brand-new immersive experience to plunge visitors into the history of the miners.
On June 19, the Cap Garonne Mine Museum launched its summer season during an evening enhanced by the colors of the sunset over the massif. Christian Garnier, the president of the establishment, welcomed partners, elected officials, and friends of the museum, as well as representatives from the municipalities (Le Pradet, La Garde, and Carqueiranne).
The Forgotten Mine, at the heart of the past!
On this occasion, the museum unveiled the major novelty of the 2026 season, namely an immersive route called "The Forgotten Mine, at the heart of the past!".
This experience invites visitors to venture, equipped with a headlamp, into a raw and preserved part of the former mining operation. The goal is to slip, for the duration of an exploration, into the shoes of an apprentice miner discovering the darkness of the galleries.

An immersion in the 19th century
This route covers more than a kilometer of underground galleries, dug by hand by the workers who mined the rich copper veins of Cap Garonne.
Accompanied by passionate guides, participants will discover extraction techniques, prospecting methods, and the harsh working conditions that prevailed in the 19th century.
This immersion promises an experience rich in sensations, combining historical discovery, adventure, and the transmission of knowledge. The route ends inside the museum, allowing for a deeper understanding of this exceptional site, considered one of the most remarkable witnesses to mining history in Provence.

Christian Garnier thanked the commitment of the municipalities (Le Pradet, La Garde, and Carqueiranne) in revitalizing the museum.
He praised the support of the private partners who are accompanying the site for the next three years: Axa Assurances 2GS, Blootiful Ambiance Bois, KF Auto, Audiffren, Bussone Constructions, Garage Bastonero, Casini, and Urbavar.
Their support proves essential for the continuation of projects to promote this local heritage.
