The Trophées de la Pigne Honor Sporting Excellence
This year, for the 4th edition, many athletes were honored during this exceptional evening!
On June 19, at the Valérie-Garnier multipurpose hall, it was time for reflection and awards for Valettois athletes during the Trophées de la Pigne. Indeed, the town honors its athletes who distinguished themselves at the departmental, regional, national, and international levels during the past season by presenting them with the precious trophy. This event gathered the municipality's sporting community, in the presence of Thierry Albertini, mayor of La Valette-du-Var, Stéphane Champ, deputy in charge of sports, and municipal councilors. The ceremony was also marked by the presence of Joël Da Silva and Jean-Louis Borg, respective coaches of women's handball and men's basketball, sponsors of the event. In recognition of their contribution and commitment, they received an honorary trophy, as did Alexis Dejardin, physical trainer for professional rugby clubs. Among the distinguished clubs, we note the most active in the municipality: La Valette Cyclo, RCT Bowling, UAV Football, Les Archers valettois, and ASPTT Toulon La Valette. The presentation of the Trophées de la Pigne is a testament to La Valette-du-Var's label as a "Ville active, Ville sportive" and "Terre de Jeux 2024". These labels are awarded to local authorities that implement public policies promoting physical and sporting activity for all citizens.
